How ready Iran is to confront the United States

According to the US Department of Defense, the country’s missile force in Iran

Iran has vowed revenge after General Kasem Solaimani was killed at a US drone strike in Baghdad Airport. Ayatollah Khamenei, the country’s highest leader, has warned that there is a difficult revenge waiting for those responsible for killing Gen. Qasem Solaimani. But how capable is Iran’s military? How powerful is their army?

According to the UK-based International Institute for Strategic Studies, there are around 100,000 active members at various levels of the military. Of these, 1 lakh 3,000 regular army and at least one lakh 4,000 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or IRGC. Besides, there are 20,000 more in the IRGC’s Navy. They operate armored petrol boats in the hormuz system.

The IRGC also controls the bases unit, which is essentially a voluntary force. They work mainly to deal with internal dissatisfaction. They can quickly assemble thousands of people. The IRGC was established three years ago, which later became a major military, political and economic power. It is considered to be Iran’s most powerful force. General Solaimani, who was led by the Quds Force, conducted several covert operations abroad, and they directly responded to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s highest leader. The unit was deployed to Syria, which has fought alongside Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the armed Shiite militias.

In Iraq, they supported a Shi’ite-controlled paramilitary force that helped defeat the Islamic State group. However, the United States says the Quds Force has given money, training, weapons and materials to organizations that the United States considers as terrorist groups. These include the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Economic problems and sanctions have impacted Iran’s arms imports. The amount of defense imports in the country’s defense sector between 20 and 25 is only 5.7 percent of Saudi Arabia’s total military imports. The Iranians have imported more into the military than Russia, and then China remains.

Does Iran have missiles?

Iran’s missile capability is an important part of the country’s armed forces. According to the US Department of Defense, the country’s missile force is the largest in the Middle East, especially the low-turn and the medium-range. They also say Iran is experimenting with space technology to build intercontinental missiles. Iran, however, suspended Iran’s missile program after a nuclear deal, says the Royal United Service Institute.

In many cases, many targets in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf are under Iran’s short- or medium-range missile missions, especially potential targets in Israel. In addition, there is further evidence that Tehran’s regional allies also use the missiles and guidance systems supplied by Iran, especially in Saudi Arabia, Israel, and the UAE’s targets.

Non-Conventional Weapons Iran has increased its drone capabilities despite several years of sanctions. Iran has been using drones for 25 years in the war against the Islamic State. On June 27, a US drone overturned an allegation that it violated Iran’s airspace. In addition, they have also transferred or sold drone technology to their allies, says the BBC’s defense and diplomatic correspondent Jonathan Marcus. Drone and missile strikes in Saudi oil field in the 21st. The Saudi Arabia and  United States blamed Iran. Tehran, however, denied the allegations. Instead, they point to the Yemeni insurgents taking responsibility.

US airstrike kills 5 in Iraq

On Friday morning, the United States again airstrikes, killing six people after killing Qassim Sulaimani in Iran.

The casualties were reported in a car bomb attack on members of the Iranian-backed militia Popula Mobilization Movement on Taj Road, north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Iranian state television reported the latest attack, saying there was no senior or significant member of the militia force in the vehicle. International media, including the BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera, have not released details of the new attack as breaking news.

Hours before the renewed attack, US President Donald Trump told a news conference that Qassim Sulaimani, the head of Iran’s Quds Force, was killed to stop the war, not to start a war. Because Sulaimani killed many people, Sulaimani was attacked while on his way from Iraq to Syria to Damascus. So, Qasim Sulaimani, the head of the Iranian revolutionary forces, was killed in a US airstrike at Baghdad International Airport in Iraq on Friday. Since then, the United States is worried about retaliatory attacks on Iran, and other countries in the world are worried.
